Slam Dunk Festival 2015 - South (Lower Than Atlantis)
It is safe to say that Lower Than Atlantis were probably my favourite performers of the whole night at Slam Dunk. I am a huge LTA fan, so it was great to finally see them for the first time and be a part of one of the best crowds that I have witnessed.
Lower Than Atlantis had the perfect sound for Slam Dunk which went incredibly well with their neighbouring bands, like DON BROCO and Taking Back Sunday that were also performing on the main stage. Although it should be noted that all the bands that performed have a certain unique sound to them, LTA's classic melodies and catchy lyrics were by far my favourite of the day.
They opened their set with Criminal, which was a good move on their behalf as it is one of their most famous, being the most likely to hype the crowd up for the rest of their set. They created a medley of mainly their new album, however worked in their songs from my favourite album, Changing Tune, and some of the classics from World Record, like renown Beech Like the Tree.
The highlight of the set, however, had to be when Mike, the lead singer, came down from the stage, set up his microphone and guitar and started playing Another Sad Song. The whole crowd was so calm during the set up, however the only down side was that his microphone wouldn't work so it was difficult to hear him and he only sang half the song, but the performance was so raw and intimate that it made you feel as though the gig was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It made you feel like it was so different to the other performances that they have done, and, although they have gone in to the crowd in the past, I feel as though it is more personal when each gig that a band holds is slightly different, and I definitely got that feeling from LTA's performance.
They finished the set with Here We Go, which gave the same affect as starting with Criminal did, beginning and ending the set on a high. Their performance was extremely entertaining from start to finish, and I enjoyed every song that they performed, which has led me to purchase tickets for their tour this December, which I suggest you do too! Out of all the
