Slam Dunk Festival 2015 - South (Neck Deep)
I think it's clear to say that Neck Deep are one of my favourite bands, however before seeing them at Slam Dunk I knew a couple of songs, yet not many. Out of all the performances I watched at the weekend I think Neck Deep definitely tie with Lower Than Atlantis who were equally as awesome and put on such a great performance that the whole crowd seemed to enjoy; one way you know the crowd is enjoying it is by counting the amount of crowd-surfers the security is having to pull out, which in Neck Deep's case was a lot. A LOT.
What I loved about SD was the fact that before any band started their set they came out to help the stage crew set up and tune their instruments, which I thought was great as it's extremely rare attending gigs that this would happen. And when Ben came out to talk to one of the stage hands the crowd went MENTAL. And it was strange because usually it didn't happen, and even Ben looked surprised as he told the crowd to be quiet as if he wasn't there, and it was nice to see.
They started their set with What Did You Expect and worked through following the song with Crushing Grief and their new single, Can't Kick Up The Roots. Although the song had not been played many times live as it had only been released weeks in advance to the festival, everyone seemed to be singing along and were extremely excited to hear the song that is just a taster of what's to come with album, 'Life's Not Out To Get You', planned to be released 14th August 2015.
The one song that seemed to be a crowd favourite was definitely A Part of Me, which is arguably their most popular and loved song. Watching this sang live seemed like such a gift, and to be able to see such a dedicated crowd be so interested in their music was an incredible experience. Their choice to end with Losing Teeth was such a great idea and it definitely ended an amazing set.
Overall, the gig just confirmed my love for Neck Deep and I highly recommend you attend one of their gigs soon, as I can guarantee you will not regret it; they are definitely in my top 3 performances of the day.
