Slam Dunk Festival 2015 - South (Knuckle Puck)
Maybe from past experience you would've thought I'd have learnt about having to leave early in order to get to Slam Dunk on time without being stuck in so much traffic like we did, but being in traffic and being late didn't bother me, seeing as Set It Off were the first on main stage and they weren't exactly anything to cry about (shots fired).
However what is something to cry about is the fact that we almost missed Knuckle Puck's set and we only managed to catch the last two songs; But Why Would You Care? and No Good. From what we gathered when arriving at Macbeth stage, their set had been pretty awesome as the guy next to me wearing a suit (?) shouted, "THIS IS THE BEST SETLIST EVER!" which made me hate myself even more for not leaving earlier and even considering traffic. BUT those two songs were so great, and obviously No Good is a classic, so keeping it for last was definitely the best idea for them to do when considering the setlist, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves because of it.
Turning up late, also, meant that I didn't really get involved in the crowd, so I can't exactly comment on it, but from what I saw standing at the back (on the tallest kerb I've ever seen because I couldn't see and I desperately had to compromise) it looked pretty awesome and I'm SO annoyed that my planning yet again let me down (you'd think I'd start wanting to do things on time and actually make an effort... haha h a ha hahah a).
Although I had THE WORST luck when it came to Knuckle Puck being the band I wanted to desperately see the most, it was almost as if the heavens opened when I was watching Taking Back Sunday's set and stood right at the front (well, behind my best friend who stood at the barrier; it was too cramped and I let her stand nearer to the front). Yes, being at the front meant that you had a better view of the stage and could interact with Adam Lazzara (more about that in my TBS blog post), but it also meant that the pit to the side of the stage where the other bands and "VIPs" could stand was right next to us, and the love of my life, Joe Taylor, stood right in front of us. He was a little further away from us, and being right under the speaker meant we couldn't talk to him, but my friend caught his eye and waved at him, where he gave a little smirk back (which was so adorable, if I add). Only drawback from that is that he acknowledged my friend and not me, so she constantly loves to remind me of that specific moment when I was ignored.
Overall, what I caught of the Knuckle Puck set was so rad and it hurts my heart that uni is scheduled at the same time as the State Champs/ Knuckle Puck/ ROAM tour that sounds so awesome; if you have tickets I'm extremely jealous! Basing all my review on 'No Good', the beat was sick (no Taylor Swift pun intended), the energy was rad and overall I'm sad that I had to miss such an awesome band and setlist. I can only hope that I get to see them some time soon, because even those 2 songs at the end lifted my mood and became a great start to Slam Dunk.
